your honeymoon

Your honeymoon is very special... it should never be an after-thought thrown to one side because of your coming marriage. It's the icing on the cake, a chance to deepen the bond between you so your marriage can begin on solid ground. Take some precious time together during your engagement to make the anticipation of your honeymoon tantalising!

As soon as you've set the wedding date it's time to book your honeymoon, so that you're sure of getting exactly what you want. The best hotel rooms are often snapped up well in advance. You can also take advantage of advance purchase airfares.

your first night

At last you are alone... you can celebrate your new life together in private.

Whether you decide on a quiet, secluded local trip or a grand around-the-world tour, you'll need a cosy haven to stay on the first night after your wedding... going home to mum's isn't too romantic! You want first-night accommodation with just the right touch of magic to set the mood for what all the best romantic novelists write about.

Splash out on a really indulgent honeymoon suite. You'll remember how wonderfully luxurious it was long after you've forgotten the money. After all, how often do you have your wedding night? In fact, if you can stretch your budget a little bit further, why not stay a couple of nights? Then you can really make the most of your honeymoon suite.

Regarding the practical details of planning your first night together, of course you will need to pack an overnight bag to take to the hotel. It's hard to think about packing when you've still got the excitement of the wedding ahead of you, but you will enjoy your first night so much more if you take a little time to plan ahead.

You may be amazed to know how many brides and grooms have allowed themselves to get so caught up in wedding preparations that they have forgotten to pack anything for staying the night and have had to go searching for toothbrushes in the middle of the night!

Think about what you would like to wear that night as well as the following day. Write a list of everything you want to pack at least a few days or so in advance. This way you won't forget anything! And don't tell anyone where you are going for your first night... you don't want any unexpected interruptions!
